Dual-quenched probeIntegrated DNA Technologies (IDT), the world leader in oligonucleotide synthesis, offers its double-quenched probe, to increase the accuracy and reliability of 5' nuclease qPCR experiments. This novel proprietary probe design positions an internal ZENTM quencher 9 bases from the 5' fluorophore, which when combined with the standard 3' quencher, significantly decreases background fluorescence and increases sensitivity. Due to the incorporation of ZEN, the initial background fluorescence signal is much lower, making subsequent changes easily detectable while assay sensitivity is increased. As a result low background is obtained, even at 40 base pairs or longer, thus increasing specificity without any loss in sensitivity or quenching efficiency.

This improved functionality significantly increases qPCR accuracy and sensitivity when compared to traditional probes. Download the ZEN double quenched probe datasheet here.
