epT.I.P.SEppendorf AG has upgraded epT.I.P.S. Motion, offering new colour-coded trays for instant identification of tip volume, and introducing eco-friendly Reload trays with 40 per cent less packaging.

Using an Eppendorf epMotion automated pipetting system streamlines repetitive liquid handling protocols, reduces human error and facilitates sample tracking. Now, new epT.I.P.S. Motion make automation even simpler and samples even safer. Single-use boxes with colour-coded trays provide easy visual identification of the three tip sizes: 50µl, 300µl and 1,000µl, so that the correct volume can be quickly selected. Each is automatically recognised by the epMotion workstation and all sizes are available in multiple purity grades, with or without filter.

Delivered in a PET blister packaging with sealed cap, the new Reload trays are an environmentally-friendly development. The optional TipHolder Adapter replaces the normal tip box component, reducing waste by up to 40%.

According to Dr Oliver Franz, Executive Director Portfolio Management Automation, PCR: ‘The revolutionary Eppendorf epMotion transforms applications such as PCR set-up, nucleic acid purification and a wide range of routine pipetting tasks in research and pharmaceutical laboratories. The latest epT.I.P.S. Motion racks demonstrate our commitment to making automation even more intuitive and user-friendly. Colour-coded racks help to load and identify loaded tip volume types faster, while the Reload system reduces the environmental impact of the product packaging.'

Eppendorf UK, incorporating New Brunswick from 1st January 2011, is headquartered in Cambridge and a subsidiary of Eppendorf AG, Hamburg, Germany. With over 2,500 employees on four continents, Eppendorf AG is a leading global supplier of systems and research tools for the biotechnology industry. The company achieved a turnover of £368m (€433m) in 2009 and operating profits (EBIT) of £61.4m (€72.2m).
