Stratophase started trading in 2003, following its spin out from the University of Southampton in the UK. The Company is VC-funded by investors including Boston-based East Hill Management, Alex Cable who is President of Thorlabs Inc., New Jersey, the IP Group and the Sulis Seedcorn Fund. The team includes the original inventors of the SpectroSens technology as well as senior managers with an in-depth experience of industry. Eight of the staff hold PhDs and the management team can claim a level of commercial expertise and technical knowledge which is exceptional for a young spin out enterprise. The Company operates from its own facilities in Romsey which is near Southampton and the South Coast of the UK
